THINKING QUALITATIVELY is important in teaching and advising students in qualitative research (QLR). One of the challenges many people face in conducting, teaching, and advising in QLR is that they keep thinking about QLR quantitatively because that’s how it’s been for them for years. We need to remember and help our students understand that “numbers” are not the primarily focus of QLR; “meaning” is the primary focus. QLR is primarily driven by the need for a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon.
