Many novice qualitative researchers usually do not know that QLR is NOT a research design. It is a big umbrella under which we find several QLR designs. So, as you guide your students in undertaking their first QLR study, you need to help them choose a specific QLR design. Some of those commonly used designs for theses and dissertations include, but are not limited to, grounded theory, case study, ethnography, phenomenology, ethnography, Delphi design, and narrative inquiry. The good thing with these ones is that there are already books/articles published on how to conduct them. Choose one, then read about it to become familiar with it. In at least 3 of my books, i briefly explain when to use at least 10 different QLR research.
